Finally!

January 28th, 2008 by mrsbennett

Today I went to the USCIS website and found out that they are mailing out my 10 year Green Card! Woohoo!

That means two things:
1. I don’t have to worry about it in 10 years;
2. I might leave sooner for bootcamp!

Today, it’s exactly 90 days until I ship out with the original ship out date.

Hooray!

A Letter from Immigration…

November 17th, 2007 by mrsbennett

It’s been a while since I heard anything back from USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Service).

But after 8 months of waiting, I finally got a mail saying that they need a copy of my passport with the Admissions office stamp when I entered the US last. (That’s back in Dec of 2003)

Well, good for me, before I lost 2 of my passports (the original one where I actually got the stamp on and the new passport that I got after I lost my original one), I made copies of practically every page of my original passport. (I am on my third passport now and it cost me $100).

I sent it off yesterday when I got off work for lunch.

I went to the post office and told the post office clerk that I needed it to be sent the fastest.

That cost me $18.**! Holy shit! That is fucking expensive for 2 pages of paper. Oh well, it’s guaranteed to be sent and received the next day with a return receipt. (FYI-The cost would’ve been somewhere between a dollar to $2 if I would’ve sent it through regular mail service).

So I was glad that I heard back from USCIS. But upon thinking, I also realized that if I get my 10 year green card sooner than April 08, that means that I will get shipped to boot camp sooner as well.

Egads.

Can’t fix stupid

November 7th, 2007 by mrsbennett

Sometimes it makes me wonder how people get to be so stupid.

Don’t get me wrong. I have my stupid moments and everybody has theirs too I’m sure.

What I mean is constant stupidity.

Wrong grammar here and there…understandable. Wrong spelling here and there…sure why not.Wrong decisions here and there…shit happens.

But I am not talking about that. I am talking about people who I’ve seen and met who actually graduated High School yet still boggles me how they did.

Everyday at work I see people who apply for jobs who do not even know how to fill out an application form. Sometimes it’s kind of sad because there would be adults who are in their 40s, even 50s and cannot follow simple instructions.

I am not trying to be demeaning but it just makes me wonder.

I guess what I am trying to ask is…"Do stupid people know they are stupid? And if they do, doesn’t that make them not stupid for knowing?"

Ha-ha. I r dumb.

Ron White once said—

"You can fix your eyes, your nose and lips. You can fix your butt, boobs and legs. But you can’t fix stupid."

My Very First Racist Comment

November 7th, 2007 by mrsbennett

So yesterday, I was talking to a co-worker who is a fellow Filipina. We were at the cafeteria lunch line waiting when this ignorant blob of lard happened to walk by us and felt the need to comment:

Me and Pinay co-worker: blah blah blah. Talaga? blah blah blah. Salamat!

Fat ass: (chuckling) YOU PEOPLE! THIS IS AMERICA!!!

Me: Excuse me? Was I talking to you?

Fat ass: Whatever. (walked away)

You people? WTF was that supposed to mean?

I was so shocked. I am well aware of racism in the world but I never thought it would happen here (at work) and to me (sweet and innocent lol).

My close friends and I fuck around and we be racist against each other but that’s during our fuck time.

So what do I do?

I talked to my boss and told her. She wrote everything down and was shocked too.

We’ll see.

Save water, shower with a sailor!

October 24th, 2007 by mrsbennett

After 20 years of not posting, here is a new one.

To all my dear friends and relatives, I have decided that I am bored with my life hence I decided to join the United States Navy.

That’s right. My ship out date for bootcamp is on April 2008. Date will change when I get my renewed green card. Stupid immigration.

I can’t wait to start a new chapter in my life. Call me crazy but I hope I get deployed to Iraq or somewhere far.

I am a United States Sailor.
I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and I will obey the orders of those appointed over me.
I represent the fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before me to defend freedom and democracy around the world.
I proudly serve my country’s Navy combat team with Honor, Courage and Commitment.
I am committed to excellence and the fair treatment of all.

Wildfire in Texas

March 18th, 2006 by mrsbennett

I have been busy with work so I haven’t been on for a while.

Last week was a sad week for me and all Texans especially for those who live in the Panhandle area.

There was a huge wildfire that happened in the vast land of Panhandle.

Sad thing about it was I didn’t know anything about it until I Monday, when I got to work. I saw ashes all over the parking lot and the smell of burnt filled the air. "Hmm smells like smoke" I said loudly. An employee who parked next to me said, "Where have you been? You didn’t know about the wildfire?"

I was shocked. I looked toward the horizon and saw a big cloud of smoke probably about 10 miles from where I was standing.

I remember I asked my husband (before I moved here) if he knew his neighbors’ names. He said no. I was surprised. I couldn’t believe he didn’t know his neighbors. Now I know why.

That day that the wildfire was happening, I was inside the house, clueless of what’s going on outside. I feel bad now.

Here are some pictures which really broke my heart.

In the last picture, there were 4 men who were working in an oil rig and tried to escape the wildfire. They drove off of a ravine and were burned but still tried to run for their lives. They all died and one of those men was a spouse to an employee where I work. Their bodies were found 5 yards from the wreck.

Good thing it is raining outside. I hope the grassfires are gone.

Long time, no see

March 2nd, 2006 by mrsbennett

So I have been busy at work and stuff. Actually, I have been playing this game called World of Warcraft with my husband and it is really fun!
Lately, the weather has been really lovely. Yesterday, it was 75. It was funny because I go out in the morning to start up my car to warm it up and yesterday, out of habit, I went to the car and opened it and it was warm! Unbelievable.
The day before yesterday was around 80s. Did some runs in the high school track field with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Somebody from work gave me this yesterday. Dang, I love stuff like these. Check it out!

This was an IQ test given to
      job applicants in Japan. Click the link after you read the instructions
      below.

Note: This is not a riddle. There are no tricks or back door
      solutions. It’s absolutely straightforward, but still surprisingly
      challenging to most.

Now these are the rules.
Everybody
      has to cross the river;
Maximum 2 persons on the raft at a time;
The
      father can not stay with any of the daughters without their mother’s
      presence;
The mother can not stay with any of the sons without their
      father’s presence;
The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any
      family member if the Policeman is not there;
Only the Father, the
      Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft;

To start
      click on the big blue circle on the right;
To move the people click on
      them;
To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the
      river

Can you escape this room?

February 15th, 2006 by mrsbennett

I stumbled across this website yesterday and played it last night until I finally gave up this afternoon.

This is very frustrating if you don’t get to succeed.

This is a game from the movie Firewall.

Fucking frustrating game!

I sent to a couple of my friends and nobody has solved it so far. Though they have emailed me telling me that they spent their entire day (even at work) trying to figure out how to get out of the room.
I think it’s pretty cool.

Let me know if you solved it.

Goodluck and have fun!

Love,
Cielo
